// Go Radio, The Next Mayday Parade?//

Coming out of Florida, this four piece rock group is composed of Matt Burns - Bass, Steven Kopacz - Drums, Alex Reed - Guitar/Vox, and Jason Lancaster - Vox/Guitar. Formed in 2008, this band has captured the likings of Fearless Records and has recently signed to them. Now they are on tour this summer with The Dangerous Summer.

You might be wondering why the title is “Go Radio, The Next Mayday Parade?” Well, Jason Lancaster was formerly in the band Mayday Parade. He was on guitar and did vocals along with Derek Sanders. Jason Lancaster worked on Mayday’s first EP “Tales Told By Friends” and left the band before they were signed to Fearless Records. Since Jason Lancaster is known among Mayday Parade fans, his new band, Go Radio, will often be compared to his former project.

In “Do Overs and Second Chances,” Go Radio’s newest EP, there are some similarities to Mayday Parade’s sound, particularly in “Tales Told By Friends” and “A Lesson In Romantics.” Go Radio’s pop punk guitar riffs are energetic and catchy yet there is a distinct influence of Mayday’s early years. Jason Lancaster’s experience being in Mayday Parade has carried over to Go Radio and it could either help or hurt them. They will be compared to Mayday Parade until they pave their own way of new sound.

I find it ironic that Mayday Parade is signed to Fearless Records and so is Go Radio. Coincidence? Maybe.

When you listen to Go Radio’s “Do Overs and Second Chances,” listen with an open mind and judge for yourself. I can tell that Jason Lancaster is passionate about music and he wouldn’t have formed another band after Mayday if he wasn’t. Go Radio has overcome the most difficult part of being in a band: getting signed. So it only goes up from there.
